Wonderland #RVA - Sibelle Yuksek

There was a severe thunderstorm yesterday. After it subsided Sibelle Yuksek and I went down to the river to do a model shoot. The conditions couldn't have been more perfect.

The Baldwin Steam Engine

The Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania completed locomotive No. 12 on February 19, 1929. It was a steam powered locomotive. In the 1950s, it was the last steam engine still in use by the Kahului Railroad Company, hauling sugar cane, pineapples and other freight. When Kahului Railroad began using diesel locomotives, the No. 12 served as a backup.

Engine No. 12 made its last run on May 24, 1966 and in 1967 was brought to the mainland. Eventually, Silverwood Theme Park in Athol, Idaho purchased the engine. Now No. 12 will make Colorado part of its history and has been returned to service as part of the Georgetown Loop Historic Mining & Railroad Park.

Engineers and the Piston

Two steam engine workers try to figure out a dilemma. The piston to one of the train cars had broken. One of them had locked up causing the spinning Engine wheels. The two workers discuss the problem while the brakeman walks back to the train. The train stopped in Silverton, Colorado so the workers could better understand the problem.

For the love of Trains

While riding on the Georgetown Loop Railroad in Georgetown Colorado I caught this kids surprised face. It was a great experience. At one point the train started spinning wheels going up a certain part of the track and I won't lie, I freaked out. My secret fear? Going backwards down a mountain on a train. Weird right? Well it happened that day.

Such a Beautiful Bride

Today I had the privilege to shoot a wedding at Warner Hall in Gloucester, Virginia. This was a magnificent property and place to have a wedding. I highly recommend it. This bride and groom were easy on the camera and it made for a beautiful day of pictures.
